We begin the cruise here in Fort Lauderdale.
We opted for Even More Room which got us a few perks such as TSA precheck, priority boarding, and a seat that is a bit larger. Even though the menu on the plane offered sandwiches, we were told that they did not have them on our flight. No big deal since we had lunch before boarding.
On board we were able to get some wine. Unfortunately, this is all they had to serve.
We landed in Fort Lauderdale very late at night and made our way to the hotel. There we could get a decent glass of wine in real glasses.

Well we are on our way. Flew from San Francisco to Fort Lauderdale on Jet Blue. First it ain't but since we upgraded to a more room seat it was not too bad. Good thing we ate something at the airport before we left. There were no sandwiches on this flight. Seems sandwiches are only available on some flights.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, we arrived in Fort Lauderdale and to the hotel. Food was available in the bar so we had a light meal and now to bed. It almost 1:00 am. It will be a short night.
Sailed yesterday afternoon and got oriented to our shipboard accommodations. Having upgraded to a suite we are getting the royal treatment. Boarding the ship was by escort, no waiting in a long queue. We were immediately taken to a private lounge and copiously plied with champagne and light canapés. The lounge is available to us whenever we want to use it. There is always something light to eat and plenty to drink. Yesterday was the first day the lounge was opened. It is interesting to watch the staff and managers come through to look the place over. None of them touch anything but they do take a lot of pictures. They must know where each plate is to be placed on the table. Sometimes there is a discussion as to why this plate is here and shouldn't it be there instead. All done very quietly.
ReplyDeleteApparently they have a special 12year old Macallan that is an anniversary issue. My strategy for today is to sample it before dinner this evening and return to partake of more later.
4/6 At the reception last night I availed myself of a shot of the special 12 year old Macallan. Wow what a whisky!
ReplyDelete4/7 Today was another day at leisure as we cruised along. CruiseCritic had a gift exchange. Each participant was to bring a gift typical of the area they come from. Numbered tokens were drawn and the participants got to choose a gift. I got number 47 and Sandy got number 58 (the last number).
ReplyDeleteI got a hat with the seahawks on it. Theyvwon the super bowl this year. The hat is the 47 Brand - strange that number 47 picked a 47 Brand hat???
We also had lunch in the main dining room. There were 60 of us having lunch.
4/7 Today we were invited to high tea at Michael's Club by our concierge, Milica. Very nice setting and very nice food.
ReplyDelete4/7 I am continuing to have trouble with the WiFi connection on my laptop so I can only post to the blog with text. I have pictures I hope to add later.
ReplyDelete4/7 Tonight at Michael's Club Alexander recommended some different whiskys. First I tried the Yamazaki 18 year old. Ah, smooth. This is produced by the Sentori Company in Japan. They are now the parent company of Macallan. Who knew the Japanese could make a single malt whisky and make it well. This is it.
ReplyDeleteAlong with this I sampled a Jamieson 18 year old whiskey. Also nice. Then on to a Middleton. Jameison participates in a cooperative which produces this whiskey.
